Howdy Neighbors!

For anyone who’s still looking for things to do this summer and interested in connecting with the river (or a last-minute summer job!), I wanted to share some info on upcoming programs at Steel City Rowing Club, a nearby nonprofit I’m closely involved with.

SCRC is located about a 10 minute drive up the Allegheny River in Verona. There will be programs for ages 8 and up, starting in mid June. Here are a couple highlights with links for more info:

River Day Camp
Ages 8-12
M-F 9am-3pm
Weekly sessions beginning June 12
Expect games, crafts, exploration, swimming, boating (all campers are required to wear PFDs), and more!

Rise & Row Camp
Ages 12-15
M-F 8am-4pm
Weekly sessions beginning July 10
This is a new camp that will combine a variety of STEM and SEL activities with a couple hours each day of learning to row. Intended for early and soon-to-be high school students to foster connections with the river, the self, and others. This program is supported by a grant and significant financial aid is available on an as-needed basis!

SCRC also offers youth rowing-only camps, as well as adult learn-to-row cohorts, and a community rowing league geared toward workplace teams and building community (i.e. weekly cookouts!)

And lastly, if the job part caught your eye, or you just happen to have read this far, we’re also still hiring for a couple counselor positions, open to adults/young adults. It’s a great place, with a great team, offering great experience. Please feel free to reach out to me if interested or if you have any questions!

See you on the river,

Will
