Unfortunately my family had the EXACT same experience - luckily the amount was only about $300. Steve took the money for "materials", did a fraction of the work, and never heard from him again.

I would be happy to not see his referral on this list anymore.

Last Summer Steve Tierno agreed to do a job for me in Highland Park. He came to me house and collected a $600 deposit for “materials” saying he would start on that Saturday. He did not show up that Saturday, or on the two other dates he subsequently gave me. When I pressed him for a firm start date, he ceased responding to my messages. Work NEVER done, deposit NEVER returned, police report filed.
