And if you don't like waiting in line at the PO, check out www.usps.com I order all my stamps there, and you can take care of packages online, too..

===========================================
Last year when people were mailing Christmas cards at the East Liberty Post Office outdoor/drive-up box, I noticed that the man who emptied the box would rip off the rubber bands and throw them on the ground. I commented to him "do you throw these on the ground?!? That's littering."
He shrugged and went on dropping them as he removed them. People had hoped to help by grouping them together by zip code or in and out of state, etc. Probably personnel inside take them off anyway so he was doing it in advance.
Anyway, there was a pile of what looked like worms on the wet pavement and it was probably repeated many times for a month.
I was dumbfounded so I wrote a note and put it in the mail slot inside the PO. It probably did no good at all and shows us that the anti-litering
campaign hasn't been absorbed by everyone.
But I do agree that the PO has better package rates.

I suggest that we actually use the USPO. I had a package to send and UPS
wanted $11.00 with a 5 day delivery. The USPO charged me $5.15 with a 2 day
delivery.....

I know this is a very small thing but I get a lot of mail and
it
mostly comes with rubber bands. I asked my Postman if he could
reuse
them and would like me to but them out for him to reuse when I
saved
bunch. He said definitely that he would reuse them until they
where
worn out. So I'm asking for all of us to save the rubber
bands, if
you get them, and leave them out for your Postman when you
accumulate
a bunch. I try to be as green as I can and reusing even such
small
things as rubber bands is much better than just tossing them in
the
trash and imagine if everyone did this how much money the USPS
would
save over the long haul.
Thanks for yelping with this if you can,
