Hello neighbors,
On Wednesday a Duquesne Light notice was hung on my Grafton St front door which appears to indicate that at least one of the city trees on our property is to be removed due to encroaching upon electrical lines. A neighbor received the same notice. We observed that our trees had been tagged with blue tape. I counted more than 10 trees on the "even" side of Grafton St that have blue tape applied.
I've called and left messages daily with the named contact printed on the notice to try to get more information on the scope of the work. I've also contacted the Vegetation Management Department of Duquesne Light and am waiting for a call back.
In the absence of complete information, this doesn't necessarily mean that 10+ city trees will be removed from Grafton St. But it doesn't mean that they won't either. This would have a sudden and drastic impact on our tree-lined street. One would think pruning could be an alternative.
I wanted to get a note out to the neighborhood as we ourselves might not have seen the notice since we typically use a different door. Not sure if this is happening on other HP streets besides Grafton.
Best regards,
Laura
