IB SITE SELECTION COMMITTEE--YOU MUST APPLY TODAY

International Baccalaureate 6-12 Site Selection Committee—TIME SENSITIVE!

If you would like to nominate someone, or nominate yourself, to sit on the IB Site Selection Recommendation Committee must please send the names by email to superintendentoffice@pghboe.net (corrected email address).  Please copy Cate Reed on that email.  Her address is creed1@pghboe.net.   If you sent an earlier email to the mis-communicated email, please kindly resend your nomination.
 
This email must be sent TODAY, FRIDAY JUNE 27th! The final composition of the Committee, as designated by the Superintendent, will be communicated by mid-July.  Please read the information below to understand the requirements of committee members.

Probably too late already, but might be good to get it out to your IB list asap -- of course, we all know it's ridiculous and they've likely already decided, but if anyone wants to try to be a good citizen...


International Baccalaureate 6-12 Site Selection Committee

 
Goal of Committee
To select a permanent site, from within the current PPS buildings, for the International Baccalaureate 6-12 School, starting in the 2012-13 school year, pending board approval. Until that time, the school will be located at Pittsburgh Frick in 2008-09 and in the Florence Reizenstein facility for 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12.
 
Factors for deliberation

     •    
Fiscal constraints of the school district
     •    
Academic space available in PPS, and academic needs of the program
     •    
Family and student needs
     •    
Fair and equal consideration of all ideas

 
Requirements of Site Selection Members

     •    
Agree to attend at least 80% (10 of the 12) meetings (dates listed below)
     •    
Keep information within the group until a final recommendation is made to the Superintendent
     •    
Be committed to the idea of an IB 6-12 school, pending board approval, and want to move forward with selecting an optimal site
     •    
Agree to factors for deliberation including finances, space and student needs

1 parent each from each IS elementary school:  Liberty, Linden, Northview, Manchester, Phillips & Fulton

We need to pay attention because the administration is great at hand picking people that they want and that no matter what will do whatever they want them to.
