City Council District 7 “Name that street” contest
Pittsburgh City Council District 7 is asking for input to help name a street between Denny Street and Liberty Avenue in Lawrenceville! While the street was never officially named, over the years it has been referred to as Ohara Place and Saint Johns Street.
Submissions will be judged based on their originality, creativity, and background story. The deadline for submissions is August 23, 2013. Please call the District 7 office at 412-255-2140 with any questions or to submit your suggestion by phone. The winning response will be submitted to the Addressing Review Committee for approval.
All names must comply with the city's street naming standards (listed below):
- The spelling and pronunciation of the name must be unique to the City of Pittsburgh and not similar to any other existing streets (Example: Rodger, Roger).
- The street name must be unique to the city, regardless of the suffix (Example: Penn Street would not be acceptable because Penn Avenue already exists in the city).
- The name cannot contain any directional markers such as north, east, south, or west.
- The street should not be named after a living city resident.
- To submit your suggestions, follow this link to our street naming submission form.
