If this is the same cat I'm thinking of, I believe he lives in one of the houses in the Bryant Court cul-de-sac and is an indoor/outdoor cat (he has his front claws so he can defend himself from non-car assailants if necessary). My husband and I stand at the bus stop on Bryant and N. Highland and he regularly comes to say hi and get petted while we are waiting for the bus, but doesn't seem to want to cross the street or wander farther than the cul-de-sac and/or the coffee shop, and loud noises (like the bus going by) tend to make him run and hide.

He's a sweet cat, though - if his owner is on this list, I'd love to know his name so I can call him (or her?) something other than "bus stop kitty". ;) And I think he'd be tickled to know that Highland Park residents are worried for his welfare.

Subject: [Highland Park] Cat spotted on N. Highland and Bryant

I was driving to work around 8:30 this morning when I spotted a cat sitting, quite happily, on the corner of N. Highland and Bryant Ct (right by Tazza D'Oro). I stopped, crossed over and checked to see if he had any tags (he had none). He was extremely friendly and social - even when a dogwalker stopped by with her dog (the two actually played with each other for a bit).

This cat was a mixture of white with gray/orange/brown patches - I have no idea of telling how old he is.

I'm only afraid that despite his confidence, he'd get lost/run over by a car. If this is your cat, please ensure that you know his whereabouts at all times - he seems adorable.

Jay.
