I am very thankful for the four replies I have received so far. I love this neighborhood!

I found two plumbers that are proposing to fix the problem for under $600!

Monday, two days ago one plumber came and bid $1900. He wanted to replace the entire pipe (without even looking at it), break the wall into my house, etc.

He didn’t even try to shut off the City valve.

On the other hand PWSA service is terrible. I discovered the water leak next to my front steps Friday 12 days ago.

 I called PWSA that morning, one of my neighbors called them too, just before I did. PWSA said they were coming that day.

I called them again Saturday  and then Monday. On Monday, they said it was on their side (their expense), and that they will be there that afternoon or next day.

No show. They told me that they had a lot of problems that were more serious than mine.

The leak increased in size and over the weekend the water had taken all the dirt away.

The next time I called them they told me that it was on my side (my expense), and that they have sent me a letter, that I have not received yet. So on Monday morning, I called them again and ask them to shut off my water right away, so I could have a plumber work on it, they didn’t come till 7:30 that evening.

The plumber is here working on it now.
