Dear neighbors,

After yet another hit-and-run has caused damage to our cars and property, I've decided to ask the city to put in place some traffic-slowing measures on Jackson. Despite the stop signs every block, I see drivers speeding through all of the time and it is dangerous!

If you support this idea, would you please consider using the 311 system to contact the city? You can do it online at: http://pittsburghpa.gov/311/form or just dial 311. Below is the text of what I submitted, feel free to use and/or modify:

Drivers consistently speed through Jackson between Highland and Negley. I live on Jackson between Beatty and Euclid and in the last three months we've had 3 cars damaged by reckless drivers speeding down the street at night as well as damage to at least two properties on my block. I would like to request some traffic-slowing measures being put in place. There are 2 families with small children in that stretch of Jackson alone, plus a number of kids that walk through to catch the school bus. I would hate for an accident affecting people to occur, and the property damage isn't fun either. I would be happy with the addition of speed humps and signage about children, in addition to extra police monitoring.Thank you.

If you have any other suggestions or solutions, please let me know. And if anyone in the immediate area (Wayne Rd or Beatty) is interested in renting their garage or off-street parking space, let's talk.
