Off the Floor Pittsburgh is a local nonprofit organization that recycles used furniture and delivers it free of charge to very needy families in western Pennsylvania. These families are vetted by regular relief agencies but haven't been served otherwise because of limited resources. Recipient families are most grateful for these donations, which literally help them get up off the floor and begin to live more normal lives. I coordinate a team of volunteers from Highland Park who serve to pick up and deliver furniture on a Saturday morning once every six weeks or so.
