Just wanted to update the neighborhood on the tree recycling that happened this weekend.

Sending out a big THANK YOU to so many for supporting this effort and for keeping trees out of the landfill! We were able to collect around 140 trees yesterday! And another Girl Scout troop collected 90 on Saturday! And there was a BSA troop who picked up about 35 trees as well, delivering them to the goats in Garfield! (All of the exclamation points for this one. ;-) )

Over the past 10 years, our troop has kept around 1300 trees from the last fill, and I hope even more by raising awareness of why folks shouldn't put their trees out for the trash. THANK YOU for making this a success story!

We also had our annual Tazza D'Oro hot chocolate break Sunday morning: yay!

Here is the link to the city's page, so you can still drop off your tree if you weren't yet ready to take yours down, and they will announce when the mulch will be available to be picked up later this spring: https://www.pittsburghpa.gov/Resident-Services/Trash-Recycling/Drop-Off-Info-Additional-Resources/Christmas-Tree-Recycling If neighbors missed the pick up, they can still drop off their trees. Bonus, that you can get mulch even if you didn't drop off a tree. Just become educated about pine mulch. Not all plants love it.
