It;s getting near that time. I bought the house I live in Highland Park in 1976, raised four kids here (the last starts college in August) and endured a divorce. I am inching toward selling this house, which those who walk the neighborhood know as the original carriage house to the Trees estate. The house sits on Bunkerhill in the 6000 block and also faces High Park Place in the rear.
Over the years there has been an overwhelming, unsolicited interest in whether I would sell this house, and I thought before officially listing it I might spread the word that it is likely to come on to the market as early as Fall, and possibly as late as next spring.
This house is much, much bigger than it looks from either street. Including the almost completely finished basement there are close to 4,000 square feet of heated space, a very large deck and an enclosed porch. There are three bedrooms on the second floor with two full baths (this is the kids part of the house), while the master bedroom and master bath suite are on the first floor. Other rooms include a library (could be used as a den, office or media room), a galley kitchen with a breakfast room, a full suite of offices in the finished basement, and a number of other rooms finished out in the basement. It has an enclosed garage. The house is architecturally unique in a number of respects.
I have not resolved pricing yet but the realtors whom I know have put the price a bit north of $400K, although a private sale would save part of the real estate commission.
Any neighbors who may be interested, or have friends who may be interested, please email me and I'll email a link to a photo album of the house. Your email must include your full name and address as I want to know who is looking at the photos and when. Please don't email me if you are just curious - you can look at the house AFTER it's listed if you are merely satisfying curiosity.
This house is perfect for a family or three or more children and where the parents need large office space, such as accountants, lawyers or doctors. The office space will easily convert to several rooms for entertainment and activities.
