An officer came to my door today inquiring about my exterior camera footage to help find a vehicle involved in the shooting on Jackson the other day. He mentioned having issues convincing people to hand over private security footage, and I completely understand others being leery of an officer coming in their house and going through personal security cameras! 

However, I did let him in, against initial instinct, but called zone 5 to verify. His name is Detective Matthew Tracy with Major Crimes / Computer Crimes Unit. Obtaining private homeowner and business owner security camera footage is what he does on a regular basis and they are very successful at helping to track down criminals with this method. 

It's a rather efficient method for them, but it does require some cooperation from the public. 

That said, If there is any help that I can offer  anyone to download specific security footage, I'm more than will to vouch for Detective Tracy or personally help out to avoid having law enforcement in your home.
