Urban Fusion CAFÉ & Live Music Series @ Union Project </underline>

Friday, February 2nd at 8pm, the Union Project will celebrate the
Grand Re-Opening of Urban Fusion Café and Catering, which celebrates
the union of flavors, colors, and sounds, with a monthly First Friday
live music series. Olga Watkins & The Soul Kitchen Band will be the
feature performers for the evening. 


<underline>Feb. Monday Evening Discussion Series

</underline>In the spirit of continuing the pursuit of unity and
facing issues of equality, humanity, and community, the Union Project
and Open Door hosts Monday Evening Conversations every Monday evening
in February at 7:00pm. Showing films by local and international
directors alike, these Monday night discussions will begin on February
5^th at 7:00pm with a presentation of “East of Liberty: A Story of
Good Intentions” a documentary by Chris Ivey. All Monday Evening
discussions are open to the community and free of charge. Please join
us for this unique and important opportunity to hear and learn from
one another. Below is a listing of each film and play, and the
corresponding discussion topic.

<underline>Make bowls @ Union Project

</underline>Union Project clay studio will be supporting the Empty
Bowls dinner this year. Empty Bowls is an annual fundraiser for
Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Just Harvest. If you would
like to make bowls in the Union Project clay studio please join us on
Wednesday evenings from 4 - 8 pm beginning January 24 and continuing
until February 28. We'll be making bowls the first 4 weeks and glazing
bowls the last 2 weeks. We'll have the clay and glazes, you just need
to bring the enthusiasm and creativity. This is a free event. If you
have questions contact clay@unionproject.org.

</color>Announcing Glass Action & Call for Apprentices</underline><color><param>0000,6363,1212</param>

</color>Glass Action is a stained glass restoration social enterprise
that will employ low-income individuals in the art of stained glass
restoration. We will target historic structures in need of stained
glass restoration that may not be able to afford going-rate
restoration and contract with them on an application-based sliding
scale. Glass Action will promote historic preservation, community and
economic development and job creation and training.

	We are issuing a call for applications from ex-offenders who are
interested in FT employment with benefits. Prospective employees must
have demonstrated a commitment to recovery, employment and teamwork.
No skills in stained glass restoration are required, though people who
are good with their hands and able to learn new skills in manual labor
are preferred.

Hosanna Industries in recruiting volunteers to  renovate 8 homes in
our neighborhood. You can help us do it by joining the East End Blitz
Build. Below are potential dates for home renovations. If you or
someone you know is available to volunteer on any of these days,

one community reading shelf. Any quality books for Fiction,
Non-Fiction, Sci-Fi, Social Commentary - you name it. Also the Café is
collecting coloring books, crayons, rugs and throw pillows for the new
kids corner.  If it would be enjoyed by your neighbors, bring it to
the cafe!
