Update for Saturday, June 28th
It looks like a beautiful weekend and we hope the you will want to get it started with a visit to the market. The list of available locally grown items continues to expand. Notable items this week are pickles, tomatoes, potatoes and cabbage. One item that is coming soon is corn- expected to arrive in a week or two.
Strawberries have been available the last few weeks, but we are getting to the end of the season so get them while you can.
We have some new cheeses available, at Wheel and Wedge, and some great olive oil from California.
As mentioned a few weeks ago, noted food writer Miriam Rubin will be visiting the market in July. We are targeting Saturday July 12th, but are still working to confirm that date. She will be doing a cooking demonstration with recipes from her Tomatoes Cookbook. She will also have books available to purchase. Check out the latest article from her Miriam's Garden series that appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette yesterday. The article includes 2 great recipes. Check it out:
See you at the market.
