The officer has been released from the hospital and his K-9 partner is uninjured. Thanks for the support and kind words; I will pass them on to Officer LaPorte and Harry.

Subject: [Highland Park] thank you Zone 5 officer!
We just read in the paper this morning that a Zone 5 police officer who suspected a drug deal at N. Euclid and Hampton (at St. Andrew's) pursued the dealer into East Liberty and was involved in a crash. The paper stated that the officer had to go to the hospital (and so did the suspect)-
I'd like to say thank you to the officer for helping to stop criminal activity in Highland Park. Hopefully the officer's injuries were not too serious.
My husband has wondered if he has seen drug deals on Heberton near Wellesley, and others Ive spoken with have mentioned seeing suspicious activity around HP east of Highland Avenue. Perhaps this kind of diligent police presence will have an effect- we can only hope.
Again, thank you to the officer and we hope you are recovering- you make a difference in our neighborhood!!
