I am seconding Jan's plea to clear sidewalks of ice and snow.  I slipped twice yesterday while walking down Collins St. on my to Dilworth, and then later fell very hard on a sidewalk on N. Sheridan.  The rest of my day was lost to extreme discomfort and lower back pain.  

If you are not able to shovel, at least toss out some ice melt.  If you cannot do that, ask a neighbor to help you.  I know of several young neighborhood shovelers and would be glad to help you get in contact with them.  

As a parent of two older school-aged children, I would love to have them go out and shovel on days when there is a two hour delay!
