Hello neighbors,

Allegheny County Jail has decided, reportedly for the sake of safety, to stop receiving book donations as of December 28th (you can read about it here: https://www.publicsource.org/allegheny-county-jail-book-restricted-inmate-mental-health-pandemic/ ). Instead they will provide people held there with a tablet holding only about 200 books, and to which people will have access for 90 minutes/day. This is being fought by various organizations. But planning for the worst, we can help ease this troubled situation by donating books up until the deadline.

If you would like to donate, but don’t have the means to travel to a donation location, please drop your donations off at our house and we will take them for you. I’ve attached a flyer with specifics on what they are looking for.

We live at 5901 Hampton St, corner of Euclid and Highland. Please leave your donations on the back porch, which is more protected from the rain than the front.

Thank you for helping others in our community!
