Hi Neighbors and Friends,
I hope you were able to get up to the park to see Jeff Lashway and his combo perform at Reservoir of Jazz last Sunday. This Sunday, Craig Davis and his band will be performing, courtesy of the City of Pittsburgh Office of Special Events and the Highland Park Community Council.
The weather is looking good, in the high-70’s and sunny, so bring your lawn chair and and relax in the park. The performance begins at 5pm and concludes at 7pm.
Our performer for this Sunday is jazz pianist Craig Davis. Craig has won rave reviews as a soloist, has recorded and toured nationally with top jazz ensembles, and has led jazz groups of his own for more than a decade. Craig was mentored in the bands of Pittsburgh jazz legends Roger Humphries and Kenny Blake, then spent years as a jazz pianist in New York City. In 2010 Craig earned a Masters Degree in JazzArts from Manhattan School of Music. That same year, while performing a solo piano medley of Duke Ellington's compositions at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Craig received the ultimate compliment. Famous vocalist Tony Bennett, listening intently in the audience, approached the microphone and shared his heartfelt thoughts: "This is the best jazz pianist I've ever heard.” For more about Craig, you can visit his website at www.craigdavisjazz.com
