Highland Park resident appears as soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh:
The Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh presents bassoonists David Sogg and Jim Rodgers of the Pittsburgh Symphony as soloists on their upcoming concert Feb 5 at 5 pm.
David will play the North American premiere of the C major Concerto by Jan Antonin Reichenauer, a Baroque composer active in Prague, strongly influenced by Vivaldi.
Jim will play the world premiere of Gustav Liden’s B-flat major Bassoon Concerto written in the classical style.
They both promise an encore of “The Hostile Twin Brothers,” (Die feindlichen Zwillingsbrüder) a humorous polka for two bassoons by Franz Liftl, with accompaniment newly orchestrated by David.
