I strongly support Liz Buchanan's suggestions, and I suggest that the Highland Park Community Council take action. To summarize Liz's message, we need a four-way stop sign at Stanton and Sheridan, and pedestrian crossing signs at Stanton and Heberton/Meadow. The Stanton/Sheridan intersection has always been unsafe because of limited sight lines. This is a situation that needs to be addressed immediately. Or should that I also agree that it might make sense to have more of a squad car presence on the streets near the schools during the times that kids are coming and going. Seeing a few speeders getting ticketed might give folks a reason to slow down, if the possibility of harming children alone cannot motivate them to be more cautious. Also in general - please be neighborly when you are piloting your vehicle in the neighborhood. With narrow, residential streets such as we have, it's imperative that we observe stop signs and sensible driving speeds.
