Heth’s Bridge reconstruction to begin after Labor Day
Built in 1914, Heth’s Bridge stands near the entrance of the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium on Butler Street in Highland Park. After nearly 100 years of use, the bridge will be given a total makeover to allow for an even more welcoming entrance into Highland Park and the Pittsburgh Zoo. The reconstructed bridge will also provide for greater riverfront visibility along the Allegheny River. Construction for the bridge will begin after Labor Day 2013, and will last roughly one year, resulting in one of the region’s finest bridges right here in District 7. The District 7 office will host a community meeting to inform residents and commuters as to the timeline of the project in August.
