The Second Annual Brew at the Zoo will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2008 from 7:00-11:00 PM at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. The beer-tasting event for those 21 and over will feature more than 25 national, local and home brewers, as well as food and entertainment. The event benefits the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, an international medical foundation headquartered in Pittsburgh. You may ask yourself... mito what??? Mitochondrial disease is the body's inability to turn food into the energy to sustain life. Every 15 minutes a child is born with a mitochondrial disease, or who will develop one by age 10. The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation promotes research and education for the diagnosis, treatment and cure of mitochondrial disorders and provides support to affected individuals and families.
