Hi, Neighbors,
I am always saddened when I see a mature tree in our neighborhood being cut down.  This weekend there was a great article in the New York Times (link below) about the importance of trees, which can bring temperatures down and reduce heat deaths.

Other cities have tree planting campaigns, which can also provide jobs and training for teenagers and others (more in article below). It has long been known that planting trees is one of the MOST effective tool for combating climate change.  I hope you will urge your city officials to start such a campaign immediately.  It can help cool our city and the planet and help people economically too.

From The New York Times:

What Technology Could Reduce Heat Deaths? Trees.

At a time when climate change is making heat waves more frequent and more severe, trees are stationary superheroes: They can lower urban temperatures 10 lifesaving degrees, scientists say.
