On the Church Calendar February 2nd is the "40th Day of Christmas," the Feast of the Purification of St. Mary the Virgin, the Presentation of our Lord in the Temple," traditionally called "Candlemas."

This Thursday Choral Evensong at St. Andrew's Church, 5801 Hampton Street, will be sung by our Parish Choir at 8 p.m. A brief piano recital featuring Linda Ellison will follow, and then a nice midwinter reception in Brooks Hall. All are welcome!

As a bit of a preview, the "Hear Our Choir" button on the front page of the St. Andrew's website this week shares the Parish Choir singing Johannes Eccard's lovely 16th century composition, "When to the Temple Mary Went."
