A child safety gate right at the top of stairs can leave you balancing and juggling things at the same time. Many homes like ours in Highland Park have a large second floor landing. We took advantage of the landing with a wide, configurable gate to make things safe and easy for us. The attached photo shows how we set it up. The basic unit comes with the gate that opens and two side panels. The panels adjust in 10 degree increments and can be angled or set in a straight line as needed. The latch very secure but can be opened by an adult with a one-handed squeeze grip (no buttons to push or levers to raise). The walk-through section opens both forward and backward. This gate comes with two additional 24" extensions which really make it possible to lay out the gate across a wide area. The ends are secured with screws to a wall or molding.
