The good folks from Bike Pittsburgh will be our featured speakers at the Highland Park Community Council meeting to be held Thursday, November 17th. They would like to facilitate a discussion on the topics listed below. I am putting this out on the listserv now so that you have some time to think about it. It would be helpful to know what people generally think of street safety in Highland Park (for all users: motorists, walkers, bikers, wheelchair users, transit users, kids, elderly etc). Is biking generally seen as a good thing? An annoyance? Too dangerous? What would it take for people to feel safe on the streets in their community?

Essentially what I want to do is facilitate a discussion that looks at the status quo and then, if there's generally a shared displeasure of the status quo, how to change things for the better.
