I'm not sure about the chimney issue, but I used and
was very happy with brick pointing done by Larry Kramer
412-616-3549. He was reasonably priced, easy to deal with, and
did very good work on two sides of my house.

I had Rich Michalek do my two
chimneys two years ago. He is a nice guy, and lives in
Morningside. He was willing to listen to my request to keep
the chimneys just like they were rather than taking them
lower. There were a few bricks that had previously fallen
off, and he used some I had sitting around in the yard to
replace them. He asked me if I was still using the flues,
which I am for my furnace and water heater. He told me how
to test to see if any of the bricks had fallen inside and
were blocking the air flow from the water heater.
One thing that he did was to
point the chimneys in red mortar, since the rest of my house
has red mortar. One of the chimneys had been previously
repaired and gray mortar was used. He ground that out so
that the entire chimney now has the same mortar.

We had Ron Anderson
of Anderson Chimney lined our chimney this summer (and pointed
our house). Did a nice job, showed up when he said he would,
