All,
Zone 5 officers
responded to a burglary call this evening and found
that nearly 400 children's Christmas presents had been
stolen from a community center where they were being
stored until they could be distributed. These toys
were donated by Toys for Tots and were in the process
of being distributed to less-fortunate families in the
Zone 5 area.
Our officers are
still trying to take inventory of all of the stolen
gifts.
While our
detectives will be working on tracking down these
heartless thieves, we fear that we will not be able to
recover the stolen toys before Christmas, if at all.
We are
looking for some help from our neighbors but we have
to move quickly. Since we do not yet know exactly
what kind of toys we will need to buy (age, gender,
etc), we are asking anyone who is willing to help
to PURCHASE GIFTS CARDS TO
TARGET or WAL-MART and drop them off at the Zone 5 police
station, located at 1401 Washington
Boulevard.
As soon as we
figure out exactly how many and what kind of presents
we need, our officers will go out and buy them.
Thank you in
advance for any help you can offer. It is very much
appreciated!
Stay safe,
Jason
