50 Shades of Green

A Talk by Brenda Moore

President, National Garden Clubs

Location: Brooks Hall, St. Andrew’s Church 5801 Hampton St, 15206

"I pledge to protect and conserve the natural resources of the planet earth and promise to promote education so we may become caretakers of our air, water, forest, land, and wildlife."

This is the conservation pledge of National Garden Clubs, Inc., whose mission is to review environmental problems and their possible solutions, to promote environmental literacy and to advocate sound environmental stewardship. NGC offers a huge array of programs, schools, grants and awards (including youth scholarships) to promote the love of gardening, floral design and civic and environmental responsibility. offering.

This is a rare chance to hear Brenda Moore, president of NGC. She will talk about her impact on the mission of the NGC. She plans to connect members with what National Garden Clubs can do for them, with particular focus on three current programs:

Plant America, feed America – this project encourages every NGC member to participate in one of several ways to help fight food insecurity.;

Plant America – Plant for Pollinators - Our gardens can support birds, bees and other insects, and this program provides the incentive to take additional steps to make sure we’re providing all the components to help pollinators thrive. We’ve created a checklist to make sure you have everything you need to support pollinators.

Plant America – Landscape for Wildlife - As development pushes natural habitats further and further back, we can encourage wildlife to co-exist with us in our own yards and gardens. Get your garden registered as a National Garden Club Certified Wildlife Habitat.

A business meeting and brief presentation about the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Garden Club Federation of PA will follow the program.

The meeting will be held in Brooks Hall at St. Andrew's Church, 5801 Hampton Street (use the entrance under the green metal awning - Brooks Hall is inside on the left).

Programs are free to HPGC members. Non-members can attend through Eventbrite by clicking here (suggested amount: $10).
