Dear Zone 5 Neighbors, 
This will be the last Weekly Crime Report that you receive from me as I started my new assignment at Narcotics & Vice today. It was an honor and pleasure serving Zone 5 over the past several years. Please join me tomorrow night as I introduce your new commander at the Zone 5 Public Safety Council meeting. All future Weekly Crime Reports will come from Commander Vinansky. Take care & be safe!

Homewood / East Hills
7/1/19 Burglary - 500 block Rosedale Street, 1:00 AM. At approximately 8:45 AM, a 55 year-old female victim called 911 to report an attempted burglary at her home that occurred at 1:00 AM. The victim reported that she heard someone attempting to gain entry and went downstairs to find a shattered dining room window. No entry was made to the residence and there is no suspect description at this time. (128713)

7/1/19 Homicide (Shooting) - Lee Way & Sunrise Avenue, 2:00 AM. Officers responded to a report of a man down in the street and arrived to find a male deceased from an apparent gunshot wound inside of gray Nissan Altima. The Violent Crime Unit responded to the scene and is handling the investigation. (128579)

7/1/19 Shots Fired - N. Homewood Avenue & Fransktown Avenue, 10:07 AM. Officers responded to multiple ShotSpotter alerts in the area and found several shell casings in front of Willie T's barber shop. There were no victims and it did not appear that any homes or vehicles were struck. (128766)

7/1/19 Burglary (Domestic) - 6900 Mt. Vernon Street, 11:23 PM. A 26 year-old female victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, Shawn Drake, Jr, 26, of Wilkinsburg, came to her residence and asked to speak with her. The victim refused to let Drake inside. Over an hour later, Drake broke into the residence and assaulted the victim, breaking her cell phone in the process. When the victim's 7 year-old son attempted to exit the home and call police, Drake prevented him from leaving. Drake eventually fled the scene when a neighbor arrived home and witnessed the commotion. Officers will obtain an arrest warrant for Drake. (129292)

7/1/19 Burglary - 800 block Inwood Street. Victim reported that he was in Erie with his family when he received an alert that his burglar alarm was going off. Upon arriving back in town, the victim found that someone entered his residence through the bathroom window, rummaged through various drawers, and stole several watches as well as cash. (128709)

7/2/19 Robbery (Domestic) - 2200 block Park Hill Drive, 12:10 PM. Officers responded to a report of a violent domestic and arrived to find a 24 year-old female victim at the scene. The victim told officers that she was in her bedroom when she heard a knock at her apartment door. The victim walked towards the front door and saw her ex, Anthony Hough, 21, standing in her living room. The victim told Hough to leave, and he responded by grabbing her and violently assaulting her. The victim was punched in the head multiple times, struck with a frying pan, and choked. While the victim was on the ground, Hough stole money from her pocket and grabbed her cell phone so she could not call for help. Hough fled the scene on foot. The victim was taken to West Penn Hospital for treatment. It should be noted that the victim was initially holding her 1 year-old baby when the assault, and the baby was struck by one of Hough's punches. Officers will be obtaining an arrest warrant for Anthony Hough for Robbery, Assault, Strangulation, and Endangering the Welfare of Children. (129627)

7/3/19 Aggravated Assault (Shooting) - Frankstown Avenue & Neuman Way, 11:33 PM. Officers responded to the 800 block of Brushton Avenue for a disturbance with possible shots heard. While in route, officers learned that the female victim left the scene and was on the way to UPMC Presbyterian. Upon arrival at the hospital, officers found a 57 year-old female with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The victim was in stable condition. She told officers that she was leaving the bar with her boyfriend, when they heard gunshots coming from Neuman Way. The victim then felt a sharp pain in her shoulder and realized she had been shot. The victim did not see the shooters. Detectives responded to the scene and are trying to determine if this incident is related to the one below. (130882)

7/3/19 Aggravated Assault (Shooting) - 7200 block Frankstown Avenue, 11:36 PM. Officers responded to a call for shots fired with a report of a 27 year-old pregnant female shot in the arm. Officers arrived to find the victim conscious and alert, bleeding from a gunshot wound to the arm. Officer Blair quickly applied a tourniquet to prevent further blood loss. The victim told officers that she just bought a drink at the Adan Market and walked back outside when she heard gunshots. She felt a sharp pain in her arm and realized she had been shot. The victim was taken to UPMC Presbyterian by paramedics. (130851)

7/4/19 Robbery / Burglary (Domestic) - 2100 block Park Hill Drive, 4:15 AM. Officers responded to a report of a violent domestic and arrived to learn that the 34 year-old female victim and her 12 year-old daughter went to a nearby house to wait for police. The victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, Jah-lil Lee Smith, 22, of East Hills, entered her apartment while she was asleep, using a key that he still had in her possession. The victim woke up to Smith standing over her. Smith began choking the victim then dragged her through the apartment by her neck. Smith proceeded to ransack the victim's apartment, ripping doors off the hinges. When the victim's daughter woke up and attempted to press the emergency button on the alarm key pad, Smith disabled the alarm system. Smith then stole the victim's phone so she could not call 911, then fled the scene. The victim sustained injuries to her throat, head, and knees in the attack. Officers have applied for an arrest warrant for Smith. (130996)

7/4/19 Theft from Vehicle - 7100 block Frankstown Avenue. Victim reported that she parked her car in front of the 7101 Club at 11:00 PM. When she returned to her car around 2:00 AM, she found her passenger side window broken. A media screen was ripped out of the dashboard. (131769) 

7/5/19 Aggravated Assault (Domestic) - 2500 block Park Hill Drive, 12:08 AM. A 67 year-old male victim reported that his girlfriend, Rhonda Powell, 30, of East Hills, stabbed him in the shoulder following an argument at a cookout. The victim was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in stable condition. Powell was arrested at the scene without incident. (131650)

7/7/19 Stolen Vehicle - 7200 block Hamilton Avenue. Victim reported that he parked his 2011 black Cadillac Escalade (PA plate JVE-8428) around 4:00 PM. When he returned around 6:30 PM, the car was gone. (133675)

7/3/19 Robbery - 7200 block Everton Street, 1:36 AM. A 56 year-old female victim reported that an unknown male attempted to steal $10.00 from her. The victim told officers that when she arrived home, she saw the male standing in front of her apartment building. The male offered to wash her car for $10.00 and the victim declined. The male then blocked the victim's path and stated "I am going to wash your car and you will pay me $10.00." The victim was eventually able to enter her building but when she came back outside to walk her dog a short time later, the same male approached her in an aggressive manner and demanded $10.00. The female took her dog and went inside, then called 911. Later that same day, officers were given information that led them to identify the suspect as Lamont Alford, 46, of Lincoln-Lemington. Officers will request an arrest warrant for Alford. (130106)

7/4/19 Aggravated Assault (Shooting) - 7200 block Lemington Avenue, 10:40 PM. Officers responded to a report of a male shot and arrived to find a gold SUV with multiple bullet holes and shattered glass on the road. A 19 year-old male victim was located inside a nearby residence. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds to his right leg. The victim indicated that he had just pulled up to his residence and saw a group of about (7) people standing by an abandoned house across the street. Moments later, someone in the group began shooting at him, then the group fled. (131583)

6/30/19 Overdose - 200 block Morewood Avenue, 6:45 AM. Officers responded to a report of a drug overdose and arrived to find a 36 year-old female unresponsive, with shallow breathing. Officers administered one dose of Narcan, reviving the female. She was taken to UPMC Shadyside for evaluation. (127989)

7/2/19 Burglary - 400 block S. Winebiddle Street. Reporting person is house-sitting while the victim (homeowner) is in Florida. He reported that sometime between 6/29 and 7/2, unknown suspect(s) used a trash can to smash in the rear door. It is unknown if anything was stolen. (129717)

7/4/19 Overdose - 4507 Liberty Avenue (Liberty Laundromat), 4:02 PM. A 36 year-old female overdosed on heroin and was found lying on the ground, unresponsive. Two doses of Narcan were administered and the female was revived. She was taken to UPMC Shadyside Hospital for further treatment. (131286)

7/1/19 Stolen Vehicle - 800 Collins Avenue, 11:05 PM. Officers responded to an auto theft-in-progress and arrived to find a pizza delivery driver who stated that his car had just been stolen. The victim explained that he was delivering a pizza in the 800 block of Collins Avenue and left his 2005 gold Toyota Corolla (PA plate KGY-2611) running. When he returned from making the delivery, his vehicle was traveling down Collins towards St. Marie. He did not get a look at the suspect(s). (129283)

7/2/19 Robbery - 500 block Matthews Way, 1:35 AM. A 54 year-old female victim reported that she was walking in the 500 block of Mathews Way when two unknown males appeared out of the shadows and brandished firearms. The female handed over a $1.00 bill, which was all she had on her. The males fled the scene with her dollar. The victim was uninjurd. (129357)

7/2/19 Bank Robbery - 6112 Penn Avenue (Citizen's Bank), 2:24 PM. A teller at the bank reported that the suspect entered the bank and presented a note, indicating that he was robbing the bank. The teller handed over an undetermined amount of cash and the suspect placed the money in a grocery bag, then fled the store. The suspect is a black male, brown complexion, 55-65 years-old, 5'9," thin build, with "scruffy" facial hair. He was wearing a black tank top and aviator style sunglasses. (129725)

7/2/19 Burglary - Lake Drive (Highland Park). Victim reported that he runs a fishing program and stores his equipment in a shed in Highland Park. Sometime between 6/30 and 7/2, someone broke into the shed and stole (24) fishing rods. (129560)

7/2/19 Burglary - 5500 block Baywood Street. Victim reported that he was out of town for approximately one month. When he returned him late the previous evening, he found a portable A/C unit, a Sony PlayStation, and a Dell computer missing. There were no signs of forced entry but there was an unlocked window. Morningside / Stanton Heights / Waterworks
7/2/19 Stolen Vehicle - 7200 block Witherspoon Street. Victim walked into Zone 5 to report that his 2008 gray Honda Civic (GXN-4581) was stolen two days earlier. The victim indicated that he did not report it stolen at the time because he was trying to find it himself, however, he was contacted by Zone 2 detectives who informed him that his vehicle was involved in robberies in Zone 2. The victim told officers he had no idea who might have stolen the car and he is still in possession of both sets of keys. The vehicle has not been recovered at the time of this report. (129825)
