Update for Saturday, July 26th
I was on the road last week and was not able to send out an update message. Sorry about that.
I do want to start this update by thanking Miriam Rubin for visiting the market on July 12th to help us kick off the tomato season. It was a great visit, and a good time was had by all.
While Miriam was there, she picked up a bushel of cucumbers from Rick Zang and made a batch of pickles. She wrote an article in the Post-Gazette yesterday and gave a shout out to Rick and our market! So thanks again Miriam.
Link to the article is below, which has some great pickle recipes:
I have been also making quite a few batched of pickles myself. I have bee trying to perfect my method for making a basic "half-sour" pickle like you get in the delis in New York. I will have some to share at the market, as we are giving away free pickles with a cheese purchase at Wheel and Wedge. Please stop by.
Also, read below for details on items available this week. We are now in the prime of the summer growing season with new locally grown items available each week. New items this week include peaches, plums and melons. I don't know about you, but this is my favorite time of the year.
See you at the market.
