Dear neighbors –
Again
on Monday after the garbage men are gone there were remains from where strays
and wild animals have gotten into our, and neighbor’s, garbage in the
back alley behind our home on Callowhill. Please use garbage cans for
those items that would attract animals to dig through your garbage, especially if
you are leaving it out for days before the pick up. We actually are
supposed to put out the garbage the night before, but we have people that
simply take things out daily, and in this heat that we have been having it
really can stink up the area quickly, so please think about what you might be
attracting, as well as keeping the neighborhood clean.
The
2nd issue is those who are feeding the squirrels in our neighborhood
!!! We continue, along with neighbors that have a garden, to deal with
the damage to the plants, as well as having a mess, as the squirrels bury these
peanuts, then again in the fall/winter as they dig them back up. They are
even going up onto our patio, which is above our garage, and into the planters and
pots that we have planted up there. Just as we are not supposed to feed
the ducks and geese around the Park area because it will make them dependant,
as well as draw more than we would naturally have, this disrupts the natural
order of them foraging for food, and what an area can sustain in wild life.
Thank you for thinking of your neighbors.
