PennDOT, Pittsburgh Police Remind Motorists of Work Zone Safety
Route 28 Work Zone to see Increased Enforcement
Pittsburgh –PennDOT and the Pittsburgh Police are alerting motorists that police will conduct increased enforcement on Route 28 in Pittsburgh, focusing on violations occurring in construction zones.
Motorists could face a 15 day driver’s license suspension if caught driving 11 miles per hour over the speed limit in an active work zone, or are involved in a crash in an active work zone and are convicted for failing to drive at a safe speed. Additionally, fines for certain violations are doubled in work zones.
Last year in PennDOT’s District 11 consisting of Allegheny, Beaver and Lawrence counties, there were 330 crashes in work zones and five people lost their lives.
