Everyone,
Well,
finally, here is a summary of all of the roof recommendations I received from
all of you. I’ve organized them by how many of you (and some other friends)
recommended each of them. I contacted about 10 of them and got about six
estimates altogether.
In the end, after much consideration and doing lots of research about roofs online, I chose to go with Mark O’Rourke Roofing, mostly because he was virtually the only one willing to work on the chimneys, he came highly recommended by an architect friend, his estimate was the most reasonable given all the work he was contracting to do, he was easy to talk to, he was always responsive and always did what he said he’d do, and he was willing to work out financial arrangements. He and his crew started the job yesterday and they are on the roof as I write this. They are all being very polite, and seem to be working hard and efficiently and as quietly as could be expected given the work involved in putting on a new roof.
