Rudder is a 6yo Female Black Lab/Weimaraner and just about 60#. We adopted her from somewhere in Alabama when she was about 10 weeks old. When we first started looking to adopt a lab we wanted a dog that I could go running with and one that loved the boat! Well as it turns out she is not a big fan of the boat and I gave up running.
She is on and off leashed trained and is just as happy laying on the couch as she is going for a W.A.L.K. She has been house broken from day number one and she comes and goes into our fenced yard through her doggy door at will! She has had both of her knees repaired by the best orthopedic surgeon in NJ and is 2 years post surgery, you would never tell by seeing her run around that she was a bionic dog. She is very timid when meeting new people and loves to bark at you until she knows who you are but quickly warms to new people and her tail never stops moving. I call it the metronome as its always moving to the beat of life. Many of you know that Rudder never strays that far from my side and is my relative shadow as I work from home.
So why are we looking for a new home? Well over the last 12 months Rudder and Nano (our 8 pound Chihuahua) have not been getting along. And there have been five incidents where Rudder has picked nano up with her mouth and has shaken her about like a toy. These are completely random and unprovoked incidents as Rudder has never been aggressive to a person or children ever. We can no longer ensure that we keep them separated 24 hours a day, so we are praying that we can find her a new home without any dogs. Someone that needs a best friend.
If you would do one thing for me ever, I am calling that favor now, I would ask that you pass this along to as many people as you know as someone out there has to be looking for a new life long friend.
Rudder truly has a beautiful soul and will make someone a very, very loyal life long companion. She currently has VPI pet insurance and we would be more than happy to continue this in perpetuity as well as provide compensation for her care if needed.
She is truly my best friend and this break my heart as type through my tears. Please help and pass this along to everyone you know that might be interested.
