Hi All, The Reservoir Walkway is slated to reopen in early October. My understanding is that they are waiting for PW to repave the entire walkway surface but there have been delays in getting the materials due to Covid-19. PWSA is scheduled to present at our November community meeting and provide an update on all of their projects in and around the neighborhood. There has also been some confusion about a student survey that was recently posted to the listserv that included a question about covering the reservoir. That option is NOT under consideration by PWSA. Please see the notice below, provided by PWSA, that tries to clarify the misunderstanding. Thank you - Stephanie Walsh HPCC President Dear Highland Park community members, Recently, the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority has partnered with the Pitt Engineering Department to help us think through potential alternative water storage solutions at Highland Park. However, we did not ask them to engage with residents or consider covering the open-air reservoir, which is an important focal point within Highland Park. The water infrastructure within the park is critical to our water treatment and distribution system and we work hard to ensure that the facilities fit into the character of the park. We have recently completed the restoration of the Microfiltration Plant and placed it back into service on Monday, September 14th. The restoration of the parapet wall around the Highland I Reservoir is also nearing completion; the public will soon be able to access the walkway. We apologize for this miscommunication and the confusion that the survey may have caused. Thank you, Sarah Bolenbaugh.
