I was digging out some plants that spread too far
and now they are awaiting a new home.
I have 2 buckets on my front steps with plants for
the taking. The larger bucket has red raspberry plants in it. They
are mostly small young plants, so will probably not produce this spring.
But they may produce in the Fall. I get berries around May/June and
September/October. There are some older plants in there too, with stiff
dark stems. Those ones may produce more quickly than the newer
plants. These plants spread by underground runners, so you have to keep an
eye on them and dig them up as needed.
The phlox (at least I think that is what it is)
gets about 3 feet tall with pinkish/purplish flowers late in the Summer.
They are in the smaller bucket. These plants seem to need regular water,
as when they start to get dry they start to sag. But water them and they
come right back to life. They spread a little too, as they form a large
bunch and go out a little from there.
Feel free to take what you want, but please leave
the buckets.
