Hi neighbors.

A few months ago I asked for recommendations for an electrician.  We put the project on hold for a little bit, so I don't have personal experience with anyone, but I thought I would share the list because I've received several inquiries from others.  It seems to be a common request, so hopefully this is helpful to someone searching old posts.

  • Bob Pickur of Pickur Electric.  I know he does this kind of work. I’ll be honest.  Sometimes it’s hard to get a firm price out of Bob but I’ve used him several times, in difficult situations, and he does a great job for what, in the end, I think is actually probably a fair price.  He knows these old houses (lives in Morningside himself) and has tons of experience.  He just did a lot of knob and tube work in a friend’s house.
  • Rich Boden(412) 559-5480
  • Bill Brody 412-885-4166 - http://www.brodysheatingandair.com/ - Bill took care of my issues in my 1920's home. Really nice man and knows what he is doing, and was very reasonable, too.
  • We recently had some work done by Jeff Kalas ("Kay-less") of JK Electric and were very pleased.
  • I've used, Murray electric, 412-680-7661. I've been redoing my house on saint marie street, and I had them do the electrical. They are very professional, the job is wonderful and price was right.  Let him know Paul recommended him.
  • I highly recommend Mark McKown at 412-403-3929. He replaced all the knob and tube and did tons of new wiring in our kitchen.
