Hello HPers!
This week's "From Planning to Canning" class is titled "What Does Your Garden Grow?" It's about selecting the proper plants for your space, be they trees, flowers, grasses or herbs & veggies.
We'll answer questions like:
•What are the differences between organic, natural and conventional?
•What does "heirloom" mean and how is it different from open-pollinated or hybrid? •How do I read these descriptions of plants & seeds in the catalogs/online and decipher all the abbreviations?
•What are the pros & cons of different seed/plant companies and their products?
•How do I figure out which plants will work for my space?
•How do I narrow down specific varieties of a plant? (There are over 600 varieties of oak tree, 35+ varieties of lavender and over 2500 of domestic apples, to name a few!)
Also included will be a GENERAL pest control overview.
Class is on Wednesday, and two sessions are available: a morning session from 9:30 to 11:30 am, and an evening session from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
Classes will be held at Temple Sinai, 5505 Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill, 15217 (the corner of Forbes and Murdoch). The entrance is off of Forbes Avenue, between the two large stone columns. We will meet in room 206 of the school.
Classes are $20 each, and I accept cash, check, major credit cards and PayPal. (Sliding scale available. No cost if it's a hardship.)
If any of this sounds like helpful information, please come to class!
RSVP suggested, but walk-ins are ALWAYS welcome!
