Yeah, I'm probably pretty late to the party here but for those who have not explored dropping FiOS and Comcast TV for streaming services like Netflix and YouTube TV along with some other free ones like the Roku Channel Sony Crackle Etc. I just wanted to share my initial one week into it experience.
OMG I can't believe I didn't do this a long time ago!
First of all price.
I was paying about $95 or slightly more for FiOS TV and that was including 2 set top boxes and no DVR and guessing at all of the Hidden fees and taxes.
I now subscribe to Netflix which is $10.99 a month and YouTube TV which comes out to be about $42.80 a month.
So, my new Total is obviously quite lower than my FiOS bill, and there are no hidden fees and hidden taxes and I always know what the price is.
Content and commercials:
Wow no comparison!
The combination of YouTube TV Netflix and the couple of free ones that I have totally blow FiOS extreme TV package out of the water.
Much fewer commercials and often enough no commercials at all.
Watch most movies or TV shows and TV series any time that I want.
Pause anytime that I want.
YouTube TV has unlimited free DVR in the cloud. It will keep recorded shows for 90 days.
I needed to make an initial investment in 1 Roku Express streaming device which was about $30 to turn the non-smart TV into a smart TV. That TV is stream number one. Setting up the Roku device was very easy.
My second stream is on a desktop PC with a large monitor so that just works right in the browser.
Netflix allows two streams for that $10.99 price
YouTube TV allows adding six family members total so I'm sharing that service with four other people that are friends of mine.
Bottom line of all of this is I can't believe I didn't do it a long time ago and I'm really happy that I did.
Just wanted to share the experience with you.
