Subject: [Highland Park] TV, VCR, drop-leaf table, area rugs FOR SALE
We are clearing out an overly-stuffed room of our house, and have the
following things up for sale:
Sony Trinitron 27" TV, excellent condition: $120
Sony VCR, excellent condition: $60
Both: $150
(Include manuals, remotes, original boxes. Our daughter has an
epilepsy condition which is triggered by the flicka-flicka lights of
TV screens, so we have not used these in a couple of years, and have
no use for them.)
Yellow drop-leaf table: $20 OBO
2 Off-white area rugs, both about 10'x12': $15 each
1 Beige area rug, about 8'x10': also $15
(There are a couple of small spots on each; one of the off-white ones
comes with a pad. Still rolled-up from our move to the neighborhood
last year.)
Please contact me directly if any of these interest you! Thanks!

Subject: [Highland Park] Kids wooden building blocks
I have some wooden building blocks that my kids have outgrown. They are
unpainted wood (so no paint chips), no sharp edges, and come in some
interesting shapes (block, columns, arches, etc.). Approx. 75 blocks.
Similar in style to this: http://www.amazon.com/Maxim-Natural-Wood-Blocks-100-Pieces/dp/B000JUTX3G/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1291044055&sr=8-7
Free to whomever claims them first.

Subject: [Highland Park] Energy Audit Experience/Recommendations
Hello, neighbors!
I thought I would tap into the Hive Mind to see if anyone has information regarding home energy audits. Recommendations or bad experiences with specific companies, in particular. I'd also like to know if you thought it was worth it, or any other commentary you might have.... since the going rate seems to be in the $300-$1000 range. Did you recoup your costs in energy savings? Tips, tricks, stuff you wish you'd known or asked?
Or, did you also have freezing cold walls and somehow solved it yourself? :)
Thanks so much for any help!

Subject: [Highland Park] Please Sign the Petition to Expand The Environmental Charter School
Hi Neighbors....
The Environmental Charter School (ECS) is gearing up for a meeting on December 7th with the City of Pittsburgh Planning Commission where hopefully they will approve expansion of the school, ultimately adding the Park Place building on Braddock Avenue (across from the Shadyside Academy Jr. School). We need your help to illustrate that the community supports this expansion. Signing our petition will help do that.
Although I've sent a similar email out before, I wanted to send one more request out to those that haven't signed yet....
Visit this link to sign the petition: http://www.ecspco.org/pco_blog/
To those that have already signed (either online or a paper form), thank you very much! Your signature has been counted!
We appreciate your support!
Thanks,
Lydia Blank
HP Neighbor and ECS Parent
PS...There is an open house on Sat, December 4 at 10am, if you're interested in learning more about the school. You can always sign the petition in person then, if you prefer not to sign online.

Subject: [Highland Park] The Environmental Charter School
Hi neighbors!
Over the last three years, The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park (ECS) has provided a vibrant, innovative educational program for students in grades K through 5. By 2013, ECS will accommodate grades K-8. As the student population continues to grow, the campus will need to expand beyond its current location at 829 Milton Street.
On December 7, 2010, ECS will be proposing expansion to the former Park Place School building, 309 South Braddock Avenue, to the City of Pittsburgh Planning Commission. If approved, the Park Place campus will then accommodate grades K-3, while the Milton Street campus will accommodate grades 4-8. Your support is paramount for this project's success.
There is a petition being circulated, both a hard copy and online asking for community support for this expansion. Please sign only if you are a City of Pittsburgh resident, and please sign only once (paper or online, but not both).
Even if you don't live in the city, you can ask your friends, family, co-workers, etc. who DO live in the city to support ECS by signing. Feel free to forward this email to your friends too....
To sign, just click the link below to connect to the PCO website. There you'll find a button to click on to fill out the petition. It only takes 2 seconds.
