Hello, HP neighbors!

For the last few years, I have been offering plants for sale. I will still be doing that this year, but in the past, folks have asked for varieties of things I don't have or things that can't really be transplanted (carrots and beets, for example). It occurred to me while I'm putting my seed order together that people might like to make some choices of their own. I'm not doing this for profit, but because I WANT more people to grow things in their yards. It's pretty, it's fun, it's therapeutic and it's DELICIOUS! You can look up the online prices and see them for yourself, so you'll know what the cost really is.

I will definitely be ordering from the following 2 places:

If I order enough packets from Seed Savers Exchange, there will be a discount, which I will pass on to you.

In addition, I might be ordering a few varieties from
Burpee:  www.burpee.com
Southern Exposure Seed Exchange:  www.southernexposure.com
Park Seed:  www.parkseed.com

In addition, if you don't want as many seeds as are listed on the packet, I'd be willing to distribute them into smaller amounts in small coin envelopes. (If I do that, the price-per-seed will vary depending on the amount of seeds in the packet, and I'll do a small upcharge to cover the envelopes and the time to do it and label everything.) Most prices would work out to less than 10 cents a seed, with many of them (like lettuces and carrots) being more like 50 seeds for a dollar or something like that.

I will say this: if you plan to buy from Burpee or another company that has seed racks in local stores, and you want typical varieties (Detroit Dark Red Beets, Beefsteak Tomato, Romaine Lettuce), the price will be less if you buy a pack there. Burpee's prices are about 1.5 to 2 times higher online, but they carry a ton more varieties there. I'm not sure what the prices typically are on Seed Savers Exchange seeds, but I know that Roxanne's Flowers in the Strip carries them. Not sure what varieties they have though.

Anyway, take a look at the catalogs, let me know what you're interested in (or if there's a particular thing you'd like me to grow for you, I'll certainly consider it). I'll be ordering in about 2 weeks, so let me know before February 12th. I'll send out a reminder a few days in advance.

If you're worried about growing your own, I offer free advice all season long!

Happy seed searching!!!

Rachel
