Welcome Fall!
First and foremost, thank you to the HPCC board and other volunteers for making our summer activities such a success! Having been raised in the northeast (New Hampshire), I learned to welcome each season and the changes to weather, activities and pace of life they offer. But not all seasons are created equal. Summer harkens of barbeques and shorts and vacations, but it wears out its welcome with its blazing heat and stifling humidity - and for some, it ends on a melancholy note with the readjustment to school and “real life.”
But fall gives us something to look forward to every day, like pulling out cozy sweaters, watching the trees change color, and rediscovering seasonal treats like pumpkin pie, apple cider and gingerbread. And unlike summer, fall doesn’t wear out its welcome. After stunning us with its foliage, Halloween delights our inner child. As the temperature and leaves drop, we get to enjoy the magic of waking to our first hard frost. Fall then peaks at Thanksgiving with its gatherings of loved ones, and ends on a high note - just in time for the winter holidays, but before the cold and dark cause drives many of us to hibernate. Join the HPCC as we usher in the fall with our annual parklet cleanup (Oct 15) and Pumpkin Patch (Oct 16). Pumpkins and mums, cider and scarecrows - I’m falling in love with fall again!
