The last two years have been undeniably rough ones for many reasons, with a hate crime here in Highland Park last November a particularly low point close to home. Looking forward to 2022, the HPCC will be focusing on its mission to “support and promote a safe and healthy neighborhood for the diverse residents of Highland Park.” To start with, this month and next, we’ll be introducing three new occasional series in the newsletter to encourage people to support and celebrate diversity, each other, and our history:
Yinz All Together - a series introducing folks to some of the many organizations working to support diversity or underrepresented people in the community and the greater Pittsburgh area
Meet Your Neighbor - articles spotlighting some of the interesting and wonderful people of Highland Park
History, Houses, N’at - pieces showcasing the architecture and history of the neighborhood. Check out our first piece in this series.
If you have ideas for organizations, people, or pieces of history to include, please reach out to Nancy at hpcceditor@gmail.com.
“Let our New Year’s resolution be this: We will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word.” — Goran Persson
I have faith in our community. Looking forward to sharing a bright and better year with you, my neighbors.
