As per the below email, i'd request everyone to lock their cars and NOT leave any cash/valuables in the car (not even $1).

So, last week our car was also broken into and I lost some cash. The air bag was broken (I will call insurance how much will it cost to replace).

My neighbor's car was also broken into and she mentioned it in the morning.

We had a package missing a few weeks back from the porch and we got cameras installed after that.

Highland Park is a city neighborhood -- it's very safe, but it's probably smart to take normal precautions such as locking your car doors and not storing valuables in your car. This is true for any neighborhood, in any city, and is in no way unique to Highland Park or indicative of its level of safety.

Here's hoping we can all avoid future thefts by taking standard precautions!
