I'm on my second generation of dentists at Fox Chapel Family Dental (Formerly Johnson Family Dental). I am very satisfied with them. I've not had any experience with them for children, but have no reason to think they would not be good with kids as well.

We like Dennis Garrow. Address, 500 S Aiken Ave # 111, Pittsburgh, PA 15232, (412) 687-3080. That's the first floor of the Coronado bldg on the corner of Centre and Aiken. It's a small practice. He is pleasant and low key. We think his rates are very reasonable. And he is very practical, e.g. he doesn't over treat or push "cosmetic dentistry”.

I started using Chestnut Hills Dental in the Eastside shopping plaza last year when my dentist retired and her replacement didn't accept my insurance. I've been pleased with my experience, although I've had a different dentist each time I've gone. It seems I get a young dentist who moves on. (I've like each of them, though.) The hygienist has always been the same. There is a dentist, Dr. Bonsteel, who has been there for some time and is highly regarded.

Atlas Dental is great. They are in downtown so not necessarily close to HP (and parking is not easy or cheap) but they are the best I've found in Pittsburgh.

I am VERY picky about dentists, and I highly recommend Chestnut Hills Dental in Squirrel Hill (above the Dunkin Donuts). They are very kind and have many services under one roof (routine checkups, xrays, root canals, orthodontics, etc). Plus, you can get a treat at DD or Starbucks when you're done.

I have been going to Dr Zena Jeffries for several years. She is on Centre, just after Morewood as you drive towards Oakland. She is terrific, and I really think she is very knowledgeable. And, as a bonus, (in my eyes), she runs an all female business!

I really like Dr. Leahy (not sure of his first name). His office is on Ellsworth Ave. not far from Shady, plenty of street parking. He found and fixed a bad filling that my previous dentist had missed, I like his hygienist, his receptionist is super nice, and best of all, he has a couple of rescue dogs who hang around in the office. They’re old so they pretty much lie there but it’s distracting and soothing to have them in the room while getting treatment.

My dentist is Dr. Stephen DeFusco on Liberty in Bloomfield, near the post office, and he is terrific. Always kind and cheerful, very thorough. The staff is great, too. Dr. DeFusco has a new female associate whom I had the pleasure of seeing recently for a non-routine appointment (chipped molar). She, too, is very personable and did a great job on the repair.

I have had a good experience with All About Smiles across from the seminary. It's like a clinic where hygienists do the cleaning then a dentist checks things out. I haven't had any major dental work there though.
