Renaissance City Choirs will perform the beautiful and opulent Dido and Aeneas, a three-act English tragic opera (with witches and drunken sailors--so how tragic could it be?) by Henry Purcell. The musical accompaniment will be played on period instruments by Chatham Baroque. The performance also features renowned soprano Stephanie Weiss of the Berlin State Opera in the role of Dido, Queen of Carthage.
