At. St. Andrew's, 5801 Hampton Street, Highland Park, Pittsburgh, this Tuesday, February 12, 6 p.m. Simple Lenten Supper, 7 p.m. Holy Communion & Sermon. 2008 marks the 7th annual offering of the East End Lenten Preaching Series, hosted by five area Episcopal Churches. For five Tuesday evenings (February 12, 19, 26; March 4 and 11) the schedule will be 6 p.m., a simple Lenten supper served by the host parish, and 7 p.m., a service of Holy Communion, with the rector of the host parish as celebrant and a guest preacher. The theme of this year's series is a phrase from an Evening Prayer collect, "kindle our hearts, and awaken hope." The planning committee this year extended preaching invitations to rectors of parishes in the diocese beyond our East End neighborhoods. Preaching at the February 12 service at St. Andrew's will be the Rev. Jeffrey Murph, rector of St. Thomas Church, Oakmont.
