I am disappointed to hear Irina's account only because I was hoping this was a different pair of workers, but it is the same pair, just different names (same telephone number, though).  I was told the younger one's name was "Trey."  We have had Trey do some odd jobs for us, mostly washing the car or yard cleanup, which he did a very nice job on at first.  But, like Irina, it wasn't long until his offers for work turned into pleading to be paid in advance...he would sign a piece of paper agreeing to do the work, but then either not do it at all or do a slipshod job and call it done.  And, again, his stories were very inconsistent ranging from having a son he had to buy medications for to a brother who had been killed (these could all and well be true but I am sad to say I am suspicious).  We have also had several things "go missing" after Trey had been here and while neither my husband nor I could pinpoint the last time we had seen these things, I found it suspect that we would always notice they were missing after Trey had been here.

Needless to say, we don't have much (read that any) work for Trey anymore when he comes around and it saddens me.  My husband and I very much want to support the community and help others less fortunate than ourselves, but we both feel that in this situation, we're just being had.

Also, I would welcome anyone else's stories that would alleviate my suspicions/disappointments about Trey if they're out there!

I had some unpleasant experiences with George earlier in the summer, although he can do good work, I agree. His offers of work turned into pleading to be paid in advance, or he would turn up and do something I had not asked for, and then demand to be paid. There was a thin line between legitimate work and panhandling. His stories changed from day to day and they were not consistent.

I am posting this for a neighbor who has a small business, mostly focusing on yard work and other odd jobs. They (I believe they are a nephew and uncle) are hard workers and trying to do the best by their family. The younger man is apparently raising 2 young children. They have been hard workers for yard work and even waxed a friend's car while she was visiting and did a beautiful job. I am sure they would do a good job with gutter clean up (something posted recently).

We are getting a quote on some painting from them, and they say they have done this sort of work in the past and have references. If anyone needs stuff taken care of, these two men are hard workers, charge a reasonable amount and could use the extra help right now.

You can reach George or Vincent at 412.661.2231. They live here on Heths Avenue by the park.
